Salem Witch Trails

Every day plays out the same, but something was different about today. Everyone was hanging out around the cemetery around nine or ten, it was getting late. A girl about my age was down by the pond tossing rocks in the water. The splashing of the rocks hitting the water caught my attention; it was like the girl could feel me looking at her because she was staring back at me. After a few seconds of continuous eye contact, she broke the silence, flailing her arms around and running in circles, her eyes seemed to be rolled back in her head, she was possessed! Apparently someone called the police, cops began to show up. All of a sudden I taste dirt, my face is in the ground and my wrists behind my back, throbbing. I try to wipe my face off on my sleeve, I ask what’s going on, but get no response. The next thing I know I’m being put into a jail cell with a few other women. Their conversation seizes, and they look up at me.
“Are you a witch too?” one asks.
I don’t respond, I know I’m not a witch, this is crazy! The ladies return to chattering, they begin to tell stories of being witches, when they first realized it, and now they have grown up with it. I try to explain that I’m not a witch, this is all a mistake.
A cop comes in and opens the door to the cell; we file out and go into the court room. The judge sits higher than everyone else, we all take our seats. The first lady is called, they question her about events of witchcraft that she has been included in, she pleads guilty, they send her back to the cell. A few others go ahead and now its almost my turn. The woman on the stand pleaded innocent. She was drug down from the stand and beheaded! I couldn’t believe it, I was innocent, but I didn’t want to die. Sweat started to pour down my face, chill bumps rose on my skin, and my heart was racing. They called my name, the crazy girl sat in the audience, staring at me, questioning began. I thought I was going to throw up, but instead it was word vomit, I shouted out guilty! I pleaded I was very guilty; a cop came and got me from the stand and led me back to the cell with the others who pleaded guilty.
